CIEN+ & CulturIntel’s DO+GOOD Initiative Is Leveraging Over 39.5K Online Conversations Among Ukrainian Citizens and Refugees to Unite Them With the Tools and Resources They Need Most.

It has been over a month since Russia’s military first invaded Ukraine. For over a month, Ukrainian citizens have been living in fear, and almost 4 million Ukrainians have fled their country, becoming refugees.

Throughout the past month, we have felt powerless, and our hearts have ached because of what we see happening in the world, from our backyards to faraway lands. That is why we have been eager to strike real change to help Ukrainian citizens and refugees.

Using our ability to amplify the voice of the people, our transformative creative power, and our connections, we have launched DO+GOOD, a platform for initiatives that fulfill our responsibility to make the world a bit better. Our first DO+GOOD initiative, Conversations from the Conflict: How to DO+GOOD for Ukrainians in need, highlights the supplies and tools Ukrainians need most in the midst of their country’s invasion, with over 39.5 thousand conversations collected between February 26th and March 12th, 2022, through a proprietary big data methodology. The companies’ AI-powered algorithm analyzed the online conversations to better understand which resources and supplies are needed most, straight from the voices of Ukrainian citizens and refugees.

Alongside analyzing the conversations, the DO+GOOD initiative compiled a list of fundraised organizations that provide materials and resources to Ukrainians that align with their requests uncovered in the data.

CulturIntel’s data uncovered seven areas where they need the most help in acquiring resources: warm clothes, medical supplies, bedding materials (blankets, pillows, mattresses), hygiene items, infant supplies, childcare resources (books/school supplies/toys), and other necessities such as food, bottled water, fuel, etc.

Throughout Ukraine’s invasion by the Russian military, many Ukrainian citizens have been forced to leave their homes. They evacuated the country while bringing only a few items and the outfits they were already wearing. Since then, Ukrainians have been desperate to find the right resources and materials to make it through the invasion until they reach safety and stability, though neither of those options are abundant in the near future.

Ukrainians have also been posting online to voice which resources they need the most. They are mainly discussing the need for warm clothes and medical supplies:

“My children need warm clothes, we left with only what they could wear.” — Warm Clothes.

“We left with only what we could carry, our need for more warm clothes is great.” — Warm Clothes.

“Our supplies of medicines and antiseptics are severely depleted.” — Medical Supplies.

“Our medical supplies are urgently low, our doctors are heroes but desperately need help!” — Medical Supplies.

*Real quotes from Ukrainian citizens discussing the resources they need during the invasion online.

DO+GOOD, led by CulturIntel and CIEN+, has the opportunity to amplify the voice of Ukrainians and elevate organizations that can unite them with the resources they are in desperate need of. Internally, the companies are also conducting an employee donation matching program that matches every contribution employees make to any of the fundraised organizations.

It is time to shift from powerless to empowered, having the conviction that actions can make a difference in helping Ukrainian citizens and refugees.

Visit the DO+GOOD website with the Voice of Ukrainians data and a list of organizations to donate to that can provide the resources and supplies they are seeking.

Ukrainians are calling for help, and we now have the ability to respond.
